Title

Reactor physics calculations with deterministic methods

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of reactor physics, e.g. course 003

Goal of the course

Providing physical and mathematical basis for reactor physics calculations, training in code application

Content

The theoretical part explains neutron transport equation and its forms; numerical techniques for solving diffusion and transport equations. In particular, the multigroup method, data libraries, resonance cross-sections and effects; heterogeneity treatment; general scheme of reactor calculations; perturbation theory and kinetics calculations are considered. Training includes generation of macroscopic cross-sections, neutron transport calculations with finite-difference and nodal methods, computation of reactivity coefficients and kinetics parameters.
The course will be given in English.
